I take Heather by the hand as we dance to the booming music that fills the room. It is New Years Eve 2000 and we, Heather, myself, Mairy and Renee, are having a great time dancing and talking with Heather's parent's out on the town. We sip our non-alchoholic wine (we ARE only 15) and sing at the top of our lungs, just having a great time. As we see the clock on the TV click to 11:58, we begin to quiet down.

Just then I look out the frosted window through the thick snow to see a figure moving up the driveway. I run to see who this shadowy figure is. As the doorbell rings, my fellow party-goers realize that I have left the room and follow me to see who is at the door. As I look out the peephole I see a farmiliar face.

I open the door and greet my friend Mark with a "Get in here out of the cold!" As he walks through the door, my friends greet him, but he doesn't respond, he just looks at me. "What are you doing here?" I ask pulling him into the living room and then giving him a big hug.

"I....I've got something to tell you" he said. I could tell he was nervous.

"Go ahead" I responded, intreaged, as Dick Clark announced that there was only 30 seconds to go.

"Well....." he said, "I....well.....I've liked you for, well, a while now and I decided I must tell you. Tonight had to be the night. I've decided that my New Year's resolution this year is to spend 2001 with you."

My chest begins to tighten and I feel that the room is spinning. You see, I've liked him for almost a year now, but I haven't been able to tell anyone. On some level, I haven't even been able to tell myself.

"And I couldn't"...5..."have lived if I knew"...4..."I had left you"...3..."without someone"...2..."to kiss when"...1..."the ball drops."

With that the crowd in New York brakes into Auld Lang Syne while my friends look at me, mouths gaping. At this moment I know my life is perfect as he takes me in his arms and passionately kisses me. I feel the butterflies in my stomach going haywire as for one moment I have everything I'll ever need. I just breath in the seconds wondering when it will end........

...........Then my alarm goes off and brings me from my dreamy paradise back to this dull, dreary world. Back to reality.
