Peaceful Sunset

I look in your eyes with wonder.
I see a peaceful sunset
descending slowly to the horizon,
almost gone... but not yet.
You resemble the sun as it falls,
moving with dignity and grace,
casting shadows on the walls.
I observe the flawless, steady pace.
Before it sets I want to hold this sun,
fill my life with its rays;
feast on the beautiful perfection,
Then brightly I'll glow the rest of my days.
As nearer to the earth it descends,
closer to my life it wends.
Then I'm struck by the feeling I get...
for in your eyes is a peaceful sunset.
