metathesiophobia

metathesiophobia meaning, symptoms & treatment

Hi! I am Cassandra and I want to share with you what is fear of change, what are the reasons for fear of change and how to overcome them.

Life is full of changes and choices. Change is good, but not everyone likes change.

The thought of change scares the living daylights out of people.

In life constantly there are changes happening, either its with your body, the weather, a new concept to learn, a new contact, change of place and so on.

There are many people in this world who suffer from the fear of change which is known as Metathesiophobia.

Metathesiophobia is the fear of moving or making changes.

All change is hard. It is like leaping into the unknown. It is this unknown that creates the fear.

There is a saying about fear of change by Moorish Proverb, it is " He who fears something gives it power over him".

There are many reasons why people fear change:

1. People are comfortable being there. Everything is familiar to them, there is nothing unknown.

2. You are responsible for yourself and your decisions you make.

3. If you are a private person, change is scary cause the attention will be on you.

4. In change you will be expected to raise your standards, people will demand more from you.

5. There is a certain comfort zone when it comes to friends. Once there is a change you are worried as to whether your friends will accept the change and will they stand by you.

6. People with fear of change cannot see themselves successful. They don't feel they are worthy.

Rosanne Cash says " The key to change........ is to let go of fear".

How to overcome these fears of change:
1. When it comes to our work we hate changes. We worry what will happen if I make a mistake or what if something goes wrong. This happens when we don't have a clear vision. So be clear about what you want to do. You will be able to see then how change will bring you closer to your goals.

2. Take a field trip. Take a day off, visit the place you are going to work or live in and spen some time imagining your new life. It will excite you and give you a positive feeling about changes in your life.

3. Talk to people who care about you. Don't talk to people who don't care as they will not be interested in your changes in life.

4. Build new connections at work or wherever you are going to live.

5. Start taking risks, don't hide from things. Be more proactive and you will start to move towards what you want rather than avoiding what you do not want in your life.

6. Moving towards what you want you should take small steps at a time. Whether you are seeking a new relationship, a new line of work, or a new area to live, make small steps first to change.

7. Make small changes. Small changes help lay a foundation for bigger changes.

8. Think about the time when you made a change in your life. YOu will get a positive outcome. Trust your intution.

9. Change helps break old patterns of living and thinking. It gives new opportunities to growth and happiness.

10. When you make a change celebrate it. Plan in advance for a party or a trip. This will serve as an anchor for the future that you can overcome the fear of change.

Medical Treatment for fear of change:
1. Hypnotherapy.

2. Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP)

3. Energy Psychology.

It is an old saying as one door closes, another will be opened up for us, but it is a true one.

When you learn to deal with change with an attitude of acceptance of whatever it may be; then, you will have mastered the art of dealing with change and your fear of change will be no more.

The fear of change will be no more because you can accept whatever it is that comes your way and deal with it in an effective manner.

The next time that change comes your way, remember this and you can proceed in a calm and relaxed manner.

Make sure that you enjoy change, be positive about it and you shall prosper with the ever-unfolding events of life on this wonderful planet of ours.
