Unfriendly Presence
Alright, you askedfor it. Thinking back on it now, it wasn't all that intense, butit sure scared the beejeebies out of me at the time.
When I was about 8 or 9, I was staying with my aunt for the night.I was sleeping in the same room with my cousin, who's 2 yearsolder than me, and it was approx. 1 or 2 in the morning. Therewas a terrible thunderstorm outside, which didn't scare me in thebeginning, and we were sitting there with her little space heaterjust gabbing away, as young girls do. Then for some reason, herspace heater just stopped. It was still plugged in and turned tothe on side, but it wouldn't work. That, in itself was not afreaky thing. Electrical appliances are not always reliable. Butthen, it got incredibly cold. No matter what, a room cannot goform about 75 degrees to about 40 degrees in a matter of minutes!!Still, we attested it to the fact that the heater was off. Butwhat happened next, I absolutely cannot explain. My cousin waslooking at a spot beyond my shoulder and started screaming. Butthen her face was frozen and there was no sound coming out of hermouth. She was swatting at something in the air beside her (shetold me later that someone or something had been hitting her) andpanicking. But she was not going down without a fight. She keptswatting at the thing even though she could not speak. Afterabout 2 minutes (it seemed like 20!!) she went still. At thatprecise moment, I felt something that was deathly cold brush byme in a hurry. Within 5 minutes the room returned to normal temps.and the heater came back on. We discussed it only briefly andhave never talked about it since. I've never told anyone about iteither. But I think that's why I've always had an aversion to theparanormal. I believe what happened was the result of a free-roamingspirit (not a friendly presence) that was possibly traveling inthe thunderstorm. We were never "visited" again.
