Winter Ghost
I was a completenon-beliver in ghosts until we bought this old turn-of-the-centuryhouse in Central Ohio. I became a believer as soon as winter came.We only hear things in the winter. There are so many I don't knowwhere to begin.
The first thing I heard was the sound of someone coming onto theporch and stamping their feet as if the get the snow off but noone is there. On New Year's morning, about 5:30, I was in diningroom and I heard the storm door open. I looked up just as thedoor was closing (front door was glass). I walked into the frontroom and the outer door opened as if someone was coming in andthen shut again. You could see where the door pushed the snowaway.
My niece and her husband were visiting from out of town and heawoke to find a figure standing over the bed. Thinking thatsomeone had broken in, he took a swing at the thing. It slowlybacked away and disappeared.
Our dog will not go into the basement for any reason nor will hego into the bedroom where in niece spent the night. He will stareat the stairs and growl.
When my grandson was about five years old he lived with me andthe child got to the point where he would not go to the bathroomalone. He said a man watched him and then "went into thefloor".
I have another grandson who, when he was very small, said thatthere were monsters in that room. And he would talk to, someone?,and tell them they could not play on the stairs.
This ghost does not seem to be malelovent in any way. It seems asif it just wants us to know he is here.
