Unsigned Check
I was surfing theweb tonight & came upon your site. I have no particularbelief in ghosts though I have always been interested in thetopic. I thought you might enjoy hearing about an experience mymother had.
My father died of lung cancer in 1997. His mother had died theyear before and he was executor of her will. Due to his illness, many of the things that needed to be done to have her willprobated were put off. I was living out of state at the time butmy brother flew in to help with some of the details becauseapparently it would have caused much hassle if he had died beforethe probate was completed. Papers and checks were being signed bymy father even as he was bedridden by his illness. The detailswere plaguing him.
One night, about a month after his death, my mother was lyingawake in bed. She had just turned the light off after reading. She was facing away from the door and the short hall that leadsinto her room. Suddenly, she heard the door open and my father'sfootsteps in the hall. The steps approached closer and then shecould feel him getting into the bed. She didn't turn aroundbecause she was afraid. She heard him say very clearly, "Ithink I forgot to sign a check." She did not respond butlaid there scared until she got the courage to look. There wasnothing there.
The next day she went to his grave and told him that all thedetail of his mother's will had been completed, there were nochecks to sign, she missed him but she was fine. She finishedwith 'so you stay where you are.'She has never had another'visitation.'
Even my mother is unsure of what happened. She says she was notasleep, she had just turned off the light. She would kill me ifshe knew I had written this. It is not a story that she hasshared with many people. In fact, after I heard about it from mybrother I had to ask her for the details.
