Pub Room

A few years ago, afriend took over running an old local pub and as such alwaysoffered us a roof over our head whenever we were in town. Thispub was originally a 17th century coach stop, and so has a bit ofhistory to it.

Myself and my wife had been out most of the night, and had hadone or two too many! We decided to crash out for the night, andleft the group we were with downstairs in the bar.

I zonked straight out to sleep, but the next thing I knew wasthat there was a very loud banging coming from the radiator. I'mnot just talking about a banging, I mean a BANGING. Unfortunatelythis upset my wife, who decided to cling to my back...and sobrought me to, but not in a good mood, as I'm sure you canimagine.

"What's that noise?" she said, "just an oldcentral heating system, go back to sleep" replied I. A bitunconvinced, she settled down to sleep. Just then the duvet flewaway from the bed... or nearly...I caught the corner of it, stillbeing 99% drunk shouted PISS OFF, wrapped the duvet around me andcrashed out again.

The next morning we talked about what had happened, and realisedthat noone could have pulled the covers away. After speaking tomy friend, he told us that no one goes into that room, but he hadput us in there to see if anything had happened! After having hadseveral staff walk out after various experiences!!

Not too pleased I went home, and still dwell on what could havehappened if I hadn't have had a few too many beers.

As an aside, lately the brewery have refurbished the pub into anIrish theme bar, totally destroying the character/feeling, and asfar as I know, nothing has happened since.

Sorry to have prattled on a bit, but it is a genuine story and Ithink worthy of contributing.
