Scary Ghost Stories
Grandma Rene
Hi Everyone!
Well, I've been here for a while and feel a bit more comfortableabout discussing an experience I've had that was and is stillvery special to me.
Six years before I was born, my grandmother Irene died from lupus. She was very distraught towards the end because she knew that shewould never be able to hold a grandchild. She held out as long asshe could and was at least able to see a picture of my newbornsister. She couldn't hold her because my father was in themilitary and living in Germany at the time. My father was veryclose to his mother and was very distraught after her death. Itwas very painful for him to even see a picture of her, so he tookthe pictures down and packed them away.
Six years later I am born. As I grew older I had a reoccurringdream of a middle age woman holding me and rocking in a rockingchair. I always knew her as Grandma Rene. When I was about six wemoved to Washington and while my mom was unpacking she took out apicture of my fathers mother. I told her that was grandma Reneand I explained to her that she comes in my dreams and holds me.My mother was just shocked. She could not figure out how I couldhave come up with that name, as she couldn't recall ever sayingit. To this day, whenever I am having a very hard time andfeeling really down, she comes to me in my dreams and the nextday I feel much better. I gave my daughter the name Irene and Ifeel that somewhere my grandmother is smiling down at us. Itfeels good to think that my grandma was able to hold hergrandchild after all, and her picture has a permanent place rightabove my bed.
I have had other dreams of friends who passed away when I was ateenager and my mother has dreams frequently of relatives thathave wanted her to pass on messages to loved ones. I'll tellthose stories at another time if you all are interested.
