Nurse Story
Here's a genuineghost folklore story:
My wife in an RN at our local hospital. She works on the MedicalFloor (Medical covers all people who don't require surgery butare sick enough to stay in the hospital). Most of her patientsare elderly and many pass away there.
There are two rooms on her floor that are "haunted". Inone, the equipment will turn itself on. They will be alerted tothis because the call button is also activated. One night thishappened while she was alone on the floor. The call button forthe room went off but there wasn't a patient in it.
When she walked into the room, the TV, the lights, and otherequipment standard for a hospital room were on. She thought thatanother nurse had been assigned and that a patient had beenadmitted. After several hours and no patient or nurse, she turnedoff the stuff and went back to her station.
About ten minutes later, the call button sounded again. She wentinto the room and found it just the way she had before. This roomwas close to her work station and noone could have entered itwithout her seeing them.
She turned the equipment in the room off again and that was theend of that night. When the next shift came on, she asked thehead nurse about the room. The Charge nurse told her that theroom had always been weird and that the electronic equipmentdidn't work correctly when in there. There had been severaldeaths in the room but none that were traumatic or anything.Unlike some of the other rooms.
Another room that is "haunted" is called the Rose roomby the nurses because every once in a while they will hearsomeone in the room calling out the name 'Rose'. Patients who areheavily drugged or close to death have reported having beenvisited by a very pleasant elderly man dressed in a suit and tie. They have conversations, etc. but usually don't remember when hearrived or when he left.
A final story that doesn't end in a haunting but is interesting:
A young man was dying and had developed a serious condition wherehe was bleeding internally but had used up his clotting factor.
My wife was working that night but did not have him as a patient. When she walked by his room, she heard what sounded like waterbeing poured onto the floor. She went into the room and saw thathe was vomiting blood consistenly, and this was flowing onto thefloor.
Immediatly she called the doctors and nurses and tried to helpthe poor guy. He continued to vomit black blood all over. I'm notsure about the exact nature of the events but at some point justbefore he died, he became concious. He seemed to know he wasgoing to die and was very afraid but there was nothing thedoctors could do. He went into convulsions while vomitting andblood covered everyone.
As he died, the hospital bed started to freak out. It began tomove up and down and into all the different positions withoutanyone touching the controls. Finally, when the poor guy died, the bed stopped moving. They tried to opperate the controls butthey wouldn't respond. They were never able to fix the bed sothat it worked again.
Although there was a creepy feeling in the room when the guydied, there hasn't been any problems with it since then.
Just thought I'd contribute a fun couple of stories for thefolklore files.
