Visit From Mom

Just wanted to say,not all ghosts are bad.
July, 1959 - Calgary, Alberta

When I was 10, my mother died in a car accident. And yes, I wasin the car, along with my step-father, sister and one of herfriends. We were on our way to Gull Lake for a weekend of camping.

My step-father took my mother's remains to Montreal for burial,and my sister and I went to a friends house for the week he wasgone. The first weekend back home, I had a friend stay over, andthat night I woke to see my mother in my room. I was talking toher when my friend woke and asked what I was doing.

"Talking to my mother." indicating behind him. Heturned, saw my mom, and the three of us were talking, when Iheard my step-father yelling upstaires, "Who are you talkingto up there?", and we heard him running up the stairs.

Mom said, something to the effect that everything would be OK,and disappeared, as my stepfather came into my roon, turning thelight on, and asked who we were talking to.

"Mom"

Don't be silly, your mom is not here, but I heard someone else,now who is it, and where are they.

"Mom, she disappeared."

He did not believe us.

A year later we moved to Manitoba and I lost touch with my friend.

Eight years after that (1968) I was hitchhiking to Victoria BC,and crossed to Vancouver Island at Nanimo (sp), and stopped in ata grocery store right across from where the ferry docks, (Safeway,I think it was) to get something to drink while hitchhiking therest of the way. And who do I run into stocking the shelves inthe store, but the same friend who had been with me that night.He was about ready for a break, so we went for a coffee, and westarted talking about that night in my room, with my mom.

He was wondering if he was nuts or did this really happen, as hehad not told anyone, but he did have a sense that we had talkedto my mom that nigh, and it was bothering him. He wanted to knowhow I felt about it. All I had to do was remind him that even mystep-father had heard someone else in the room with us thatnight, and yes, we did talk to my mother.

Have not seen her since.
