True Ghost Tales
Slamming Lockers
It's 6:00 a.m., mymother wakes me up to face a very scary new experience. My firstday of high school! The stories that were in mind about theplace, had nothing to do with ghosts, but were scary all the same.Older students giving the "freshman" swirlies, gettingdumped into a garbage can....you know, the regular high schoolagenda.
My first hour of school....I expected the worst; I had no idea. The worst that I was expecting had little to do with the worstthat I received. I didn't realize that the school grounds had ahaunting, and evil past.
The story that I will tell for this entry is one that is verycommon in my home town. My friend Shawn and I, just famous. Fromthe moment that Shawn and I arrived, the upper-classmen told usof strange occurrences that happened on campus at the beginningof the year: lockers slamming, noises, apparitions...
Anyway, he and I wrote everything off as scare tactics from theolder kids. Trouble, however reared its ugly head when Shawntalked me into staying after school with him to try out forbasketball. Shawn tried out and didn't make the team. He wasneedless to say, upset. So, I tried to console him, so we couldleave. He was ready to go, but he had to get his books out of hislocker, first. So, we climbed the stairs of the dark hallway, remembering the stories we were told, earlier that day. As we gotto the top, rounded the corner, and got to the lockers, wenoticed that all the lockers were open (even Shawns). Shawnsimply stated, "huh".
Shawn's locker was on the first row, and he reached in and gothis books. I decide that I wanted to check my locker, since allof the others were open. So, Shawn slammed his locker shut. Wewalked toward my locker.......Each locker we walked by slammed inturn. That is when we decide to run. Still, the speed of thelockers slamming, met us stride for stride. I don't need to tellyou that I didn't stop to check on my locker. We ran like bat'sout of....well you know.
At that time, we realized that there was something to the claimsthat we kept hearing. So, we decided to check up on the historyof that part of town. We found that in the early 1800's, settlersof the county had an epidemic of the cholera...sometimes calledthe black death. A mass grave was used to bury the victims, witha small marker as a memorial. Later, throughout time, the markerwas lost, and something got built over the area....can you guessit kids? The high school.
So, could my story be about 200 polterguists, or some otherexplanation? You decide. I'll get to the other stories at anothersession.
