Shaking Trailer

One night I wentover to my best friends house. She was sitting outside on herfront lawn, looking at the house directly across the street. Iasked her what she was watching for as I sat next to her. Shesaid that for the last couple of days, she'd noticed strangepeople coming to the house, some wearing black robes. She likedthe lady very much and visited her often, so, she told me,earlier in the day she had gone and knocked on the door to checkon her. A stranger answered the door and then the woman's husbandcame to the door. He was very sharp with her and told hereverything was okay and not to bother them anymore.

After she finished telling me this, we sat in silence,contemplating the situation. All of a sudden, the camper owned bymy friend's family, which was parked in the driveway to ourright, began shaking violently. Our first thought was anearthquake (we lived in California). But, quickly we noticed thatnothing else was moving. As the camper continued to shake, weeach ran around either side until we met on the other side.Nobody was moving it from the outside. Somebody must be inside,we thought. My friend ran into the house to get her father,yelling someone had broken into the camper. Just as she and herfather came around the corner, the shaking stopped. Her fatherunlocked the camper and bounded in. We stayed out of the way,ready to get help.

After a couple of minutes, her father came out looking pissed off."Was this a joke?" he asked. No one was in the camper.All of the closets and drawers had been opened and everything wasflung all over. We were practically in tears, trying to convincehim that we hadn't done anything. I guess he believed us, becausethen he went in the house and yelled at her brother.
