True Ghost Tales
Scaredy Cat
In our front roomwe have a large overstuffed chair that's very comfortable &easy to fall asleep in. On the oppisite side of the room is anold desk with an equally old computer on top. Next to that "relic"was an external modem with lights along the side (a few green& one red, I think) that stayed on all the time. To the rightof the chair is a large window with white lace curtins. The yardlight just outside the window helps to illuminate the room so youcan see easily at night.
Now....the good stuff:
It was a warm spring evening (these weird things usually happenin the spring), my allergies were really reaking havoc with myhead & the only way I could sleep was sitting up.
One evening I couldn't breathe well, so I headed to my favoritechair to sleep. My cat B.C. always joins me in the chair, usuallyon my lap. As I was covering up with a lightweight blanket, I putmy legs on the footstool, the cat had jumped up on the leftarmrest & waited patiently for me to settle in. I turned thelights out & took off my glasses & set them on the tablebeside me.
Suddenly I noticed a dark mass (sorry, that's the only way todescribe it!!) pass between me & the desk. There must havebeen some denisity to this mass because the lights on the modemwere momentarily blocked from my view as we (my cat) watched itgo by. I glanced at B.C. to see if he noticed anything. B.C.noticed!! He was on the edge of the chair leaning as far forwardas he could & still defy gravity looking at the samething Iwas. B.C. started to look in my direction & as he turned hishead to face me, he suddenly went flying across the room sideways& landed about 9-10 feet from the chair. It was as ifsomething was standing right in front of me & backhanded thecat off the chair (I still wonder if it missed me &accidently hit B.C.). Now I know cats can jump sideways, backwards & I've even seen them change directions in midair, but this was not a voluntary jump. Judging from the size of B.C.'seyes, he was just as surprised that he was flying sideways as Iwas.
I leaned forward to see what happened to my poor cat. He was onall fours, but stretched out with his paws & claws pullinghimself along the carpet towards me. It looked like something washolding him down. I calmly took the covers off my legs & putmy slippers on, then I hauled my ass into the bedroom & doveunder the covers of our bed with such force, I woke my husband up.(didn't even stop to change my underware!) I mumbled somethingabout the cat getting scared & covered up.
Yes, I admit it....I left B.C. whereever he was.
The next morning my husband asked "what was that all aboutlast night??" I proceeded to tell him what happened, I don'treally think he beleived me, but, when he saw B.C.'s reaction tothat room, it gave him something to think about!
All in all, it took B.C. about a month to be able to go into thatroom without thinking about that night!
Well, thanks for reading my story. I've been lurking for about amonth now & have enjoyed reading your stories.
