Iron Ball

by Unknown

In 1983, I lived in an apt. in Hightstown, NJ. My living room contained a rather large picture window, and the only shades I had on it were sheer curtains. I didn't own a bed then, so I slept on the living room couch. Prior to the night that I am about to explain, I had gone to a flea market and purchased an object. The seller didn't know what it was, but at the time, I was into buying black wrought iron objects. This object was black wrought-iron and was round about the size of a large orange. It had a somewhat criss-cross design, with openings, that ended at the top with a small ball. You couldn't keep pennies in it, because they would fall out of the openings. I bought it for 25 cents. I took it home and put in in the center of a corner table near my kitchen, but in the dining room. I owned it for about a week and one night I went to sleep. Somewhere during the night, I woke up to a very, very bright light shining into my living room, through the curtains. I must add I am very nearsighted and sleep without my glasses, and when I look at objects without my glasses, they are how can I say, certainly not defined or clear, but sort of bursting with color--like looking at an oncoming car's headlight, it spreads out all over the place; but I definitely can see color.

Well anyway, I guess I was in a mid-sleep, when this light appeared. It was very bright and I knew that I was not to put on my glasses. I don't know how I knew, but then I was directed to look over to the little table holding this object. And from what my eyes could detect, from the ceiling were colors of gold, silver, red, green and blue sparkles floating down over this object; it was absolutely beautiful to watch. After about what seemed like seconds, I rolled over and went back to sleep. The next morning I got up as usual, with no recollection of anything the night before and went to make my cup of tea and read the paper. As I was doing so, I just thought oh I'll look over at my little object and lo and behold, there it was completely sliced in two, and each piece laying to the side. I got chills and then the entire evening event came back to me. I picked up the piece and it looked as if someone had taken a tool and evenly and smoothly sliced it in half. I tried to see if it would be worth gluing it back together but then it didn't look very pretty, so I merely dropped it in the trash.

That was 1983 and in the interim I have tried many times to tell this story, but something or someone was stopping me. Every time I thought I would write a short story about it, again I was stopped; stopped in my mind. So it wasn't until 1993, where I attended a local meeting on UFO sightings, where I felt it was time to tell, and I was allowed to stand up and tell the whole story. Of course, only 2 people were interested; and the others just shrugged it off. So here it is nearing the end of 1998, and I still yet find a reason for what occurred.
