Friendly Ghosts

by Jennifer

I have alwaysconsidered my self in tune with spiritual world. I was the one inmy family who noticed the changes in room tempiture or thefeeling of being watched. My parents dismissed this as an over-activeimagination, which I do have, but I knew the difference betweensomething real and something imagined. Now that I've bored youwith some background info, let me tell you about my "encounter".Our house was probably the least likely be haunted, no one as faras I know had died thereand it wasn't that old. But nonetheless,it was haunted. One night when I was twelve(I'm fourteen now)Ihad been laying awake trying to decide whether or not to get upand do something because I wasn't the least bit sleepy or to tryhard to fall asleep before the sun rose. All of a sudden, out ofthe blue, I heard a little girls voice say one word. All though Icouldn't understand the word, the voice was quite distinct. I wasstartled (well duh!) and quickly dimissed it as something I ha! !d imagined. However, I listened closer and was scared of coursewhen I heard it again, as clear as the first time! But for somereason, it was a startled kind of scared and I was able to fallasleep later without any nightmares. The second incident(notcounting mysterious lights or sounds) happened a few weeks later.I was lying in bed, trying to fall asleep, when I heard footstepswalk down the hall past my room and my door opened slightly.Assuming it was my younger sister because the footsteps had beenso light, I got up and went into the bathroom expecting to seeher there. No on was in there. Surprised I walked to my mom'sroom and found everyone but myself asleep there. More curiousthan afraid, I walked down the hall and towards the living roomto see what had caused the footsteps I heard. When I walked intothe dining room-it's hard to explain, but all of a sudden I wassurrounded by voices, I could her a man and woman talking and theoccassional sound of a little gir! ! l joining. Startled I backedout of the dining room. I wasn't afraid, which was odd. I hurriedback to my room and fell asleep. The final encounter with the"friendly" ghosts is my favorite. I was lyimg on myside in bed facing the wall when I felt someone sit down on theedge of the bed. I turned around thinking it was my mom but noone was there!! I turned slowly back around, my eyes wide. Then Ifelt someone gently and tenderly tuck my blankets around me. Allof these encounters had happened only to me but the next my bestfriend and I both experianced. It wasn't fun. Malia and I hadbeen up all night giggling when we suddenly noticed how cold anddry the air in the room had become, unusal for Hawai'i in thespring. We became more and more frightened and could feel thisevil angry presence in the room. The fear intenscificedwhen wefinally got up enough courage to walk out and noticed how an areaby my door had this icy feeling to it. We stayed in my parentsroom for an ho! ! ur and when we went back the cold, dryness, andevil were gone. Needless to say we never got any sleep!
