German House
I've been meaningto post this story for a while, but I just don't ever seem tohave the time it takes for me to post a story. I was planning onposting about the house that my mom and dad lived in when my dadwas in the army in Germany. I guess they lived in this really oldhouse with another couple. The house was pretty big and my momsaid it was pretty creepy. The landlord had told them that theycould use any part of the house except that they were never eversupposed to open the attic door, but he didn't give anexplanation. Well, as young women are (my mom was about 19/20 atthe time and the other woman was about the same age) they werecurious and, of course, they were going to go investigate theattic. So they waited until one day when another girlfriend oftheirs came over and they went upstairs and picked the lock tothe attic door.
Just a little information before I go on.. When they moved intothe house they would hear people giggling and walking around, butthey could never find a source to these noises. This is why momsaid that the house had been "creepy". Anyway, as soonas they opened the door, they felt a sudden rush of icy air comeout of the room (it was the summer or late spring, so it wasn'tjust that the heat wasn't turned on up there). They waited asecond and then headed up into the room. What they saw, my momsaid she would never forget. She said it looked like a page outof "The Diary of Anne Frank" because there was anunmade bed, an old sink full of dirty dishes.. generally anuntidy room.. kinda like someone had to leave it hastily.

O.k. After they investigated the room, they locked it and wentback downstairs. Starting that night even wierder things startedhappening. The voices and footsteps got even louder, like it wasright outside their bedroom door. They started hearing individualvoices that they could recognize and things started disapearing. My dad's favorite cereal was Wheaties at the time and every timethat my mom would buy him some, the box would disapear and no onecould find it. One time my mother had gone downstairs to checkthe oil level and it was getting low so she called the oilman tocome fill it up. When the guy got there, the oil was filled. Thecupboard doors would open and close and once they saw an oldwoman washing dishes at the sink. When she turned and saw my momand her friend, she disapeared and the sink fell off the wall. They would see imprints on the cushions on the chairs and couch.Mom and dad lived there for only 9 more months before theycouldn't handle it anymore and moved to a different house thatdidn't have quite so much action.
Waht the figure was that the attic was a hiding place for GermanJews during WWII and the place got raided by the Gestapo. Whoknows, but they said it was the strangest thing that had everhappened to them and they hope that they never have to go throughit again.
Hope you enjoyed this story. I can't remember the place where mydad was statoined, but I plan on asking him the next time I talkto him.
