Sister Stories 3

Sent in by Lily

My first story fortoday took place when my husband, my daughter and I moved backinto the house when my grandfather died and the house came intomy possesion. My daughter was about 13 years old at the time. Andshe had taken my parent's former bedroom as her own. At the timemy husband started work at 6:00 a.m. in the morning, I started at6:30 a.m.. My parents had bought the house next door when ourneighbor died (the one who worked on silent pictures). I wouldwake my daughter up every morning after taking my bath and Iwould leave just as she was getting into the tub. I would knockon the door and say goodbye before I left. Then she would finishgetting ready and go over to my mom's for breakfast and mybrother would drop her off at school.

On this particular morning I had left already and she was in herbedroom with the door closed getting ready for school with herradio on full blast when she heard a knock at the door. ThinkingI had come back home for something she yelled out "mom?."When I didn't answer she opened her door and looked out into thedining room, then my bedroom and finally the kitchen. Thinking Ihad run out of the house before she had gotten a chance to catchme, she went back into her room and closed the door. Before longshe heard a knock again, and again the said (this time a lotsofter) "mom?." Again she opened her door and this timejust peeked out to see who was there (she was starting to getcreeped out). She closed the door and again the knocking!.....Thistime she didn't answer. As if in response to her silence theknocking became louder and harder, then stopped. My daughter satsilent in her room thinking to herself "I'm not opening thatdoor, I'm not opening that door!!" Again the knockingstarted only harder, until she thought the door would bang open. Finally, it stopped and she waited a few minutes. She gatheredher books, her key, and her sweater. She threw open the door, ranthought the house and flew out the back door. She stopped onlylong enough to lock the door from the outside of the house (Sheusually threw the lock from the inside of the door and then justshut the door behind her to lock it).

The second story also happened to my daughter while we wereliving there. She was sleeping in her room one night when shefelt someone watching her. She opened her eyes, only to see thesilhouette of a human figure standing at the foot of her bed. Sheknew she had locked her bedroom when she went to bed, so she knewit wasn't her dad or I. She was afraid to get up....She didn'twant to move or let the thing see she was awake. So she closedher eyes and didn't reopen them for the rest of the night. Bymorning it was gone.

My third and last story for today also involves this bedroom. When my grandfather had a stroke at the age of 93 years old hedidn't bounce back. His health deteriorated quickly. The doctorsagreed with us, in that without being hooked up to wires andtubes for the rest of his life he was going to die. Mygrandfather said he did not want to live that way, and herequested to be taken home to be surrounded by his family and todie peacefully in his own bed. When my grandfather came home wetook turns taking care of him. It was a full-time job, but we didit willingly because we loved him so very much. My mom was takingcare of him one of these particular nights when she woke up froma deep sleep. She woke up with a start, not knowing what hadwoken her up when she heard murmering near her ear and feltsomething brush by her left cheek. She said she felt an extremelystrong presence in the room with her and she was afraid. She puther head back down, squeezed her eyes shut and pulled the coversup close around her head until the it went away. I asked her ifshe could make out what the entity had whispered to her, but shesaid she couldn't quite make out what it had said.

I also wanted to mentioned something about the house. If youremember I mentioned that at one time it had been a home forunwed mothers. Lately we have come to believe it was run byCatholic nuns. The reason we believe this is because my sisterhas often seen a nun walking through the house throughout theyears, from since she was a small child. I believe she mentionsthis very nun in her postings.

Well let me know what you think and if you want to hear more. Nowthat my sister Becky has posted one of her storys as well, you'llget more of an understanding of this house and the strange if notenigmatic atmosphere we lived in.
