Maw's Ghost
When I had firststarted dating my husband his grandparents were still alive. Hisparents had remodeled the one room house that had belonged to hisdeceased uncle so that they could move his grandparents ininstead of sending them to a nursing home.
A good point to keep in mind right now is that during the timethe house was being added on to my husband forgot to re-attachthe grounding rod to the house and the house which was made withconcrete blocks was struck by lightning. (Ghosts are typicallymade up of electrical fields and use the electrical fields to beactive.) I'm thinking that this accident of his must have givenour house an electrical charge.
After his grandparents had died everything seemed normal. Shortlyafterwards he moved into the house. A few months later theactivity started. It began with hearing doors slam while theywere shut, and the times while he was in the bed he heard someonewalking around. He assumed it was his parents in the kitchenplaying cards since they hadn't stopped using our house for theirdaily game yet. They claimed they had never been over duringthose times.
On one particular day during the summer the thermostat had gottenturned way up. We couldn't figure out why it was so hot until wehad seen it. Other physically odd occurrences include the nightthat the portable phone that has a caller id display wasconstantly having the number 8 pressed and the time that myhusband's watch was thrown at me.
My mother-in-law had heard noises in the attic that stopped whenmy father-in-law was around and started back when he went away.It was during that time period that she had discovered that itwas my husband's grandmother haunting our house. When she asked,"Maw is that you?" The noises stopped completely. Shetook that as a yes.
Her presence has been felt in several rooms. The wall where herbed was seems to have a highly electric feel to it. I try to stayaway from it. When my husband had our bed by that wall I refusedto sleep on the side closest to the wall.
Everyone that has stayed over night at our house has experiencedthe ghost when we all went to bed. A friend of mine who hadstayed at my house during the day was bothered by terrifying loudnoises starting at the back of my house and making its wayforward.
Throughout all of this we have discovered that she has come backto protect us. From a towel left on a burner that was left onwhile my husband was asleep that should have caught on fire tothe fire that was right beside my house that we slept throughthat was close enough to hit our house she was the one whoprotected us. She also watches over my goddaughter when she isstaying with me.
Also, when my goddaughter stays with me she usually becomes veryfussy when its bed time. She stares at the wall where Maw's bedwas and starts pointing and jabbering at it. About that time thecat goes crazy all over the room. I believe my cat also sees her.
I've gotten used to her and enjoyed her company since she is sucha pleasant ghost to be around. Knowing that she's been protectingus has always been a plus. I'm sad now in a way because it feelslike she's in the middle of moving on from our house now.
