Ghost Covers
My father told meof a "ghostly" experience he had several years ago.
He and my mother were spending a weekend in their cabin in aremote wooded area in northern Wisconsin. In the middle of thenight he awoke to find his bedcovers slowly moving down the bed.He grabbed hold of them and pulled them back up, feelingresistance as he did so. As soon as he let go of them, theystarted slowly moving down the bed again.
Since my mother was sleeping in a separate bed out of reach ofhis, the only thing he could think of to explain what washappening was that an animal, maybe a raccoon, had somehow gotteninto the cabin and was on the floor at t he foot of his bedpulling the covers down. So, he grabbed the covers, gave them asharp yank and yelled to try to scare the critter away.
He expected to hear some scampering noises as the animal ranaway, but instead heard nothing! By this time he was reallyscared, wondering if he was being "haunted". He got upout of bed, found a flashlight (no electricity in the cabin) andlooked all around, but found nothing unusual.
To this day he has never been able to explain why this happened.It possible he dreamt the whole thing, but he says he's sure hewas wide awake. I know he's not making the story up, because itreally disturbs him. My mother, by the way, slept through thewhole thing.
Has anyone ever heard of this phenomenon of moving blankets,perhaps in relation to poltergeists? If anyone has anyinformation, I'll relay it to my father. He's tired of everyonetelling him he just had a weird dream!
