Girlfriend's House
The following is alist of all of the "sightings" and "mischievousness"that have occurred in my girlfriend's house. First, a littlebackground info:
I think that I might have some recessive psychic abilities, but Ibelieve that just about everyone does. Here are two events Irecall during childhood: 1.) When I was in the third grade, Ilearned what telekinesis was. I was laying on the couch watchingTV when I noticed a pencil laying half-on/half-off of the coffeetable. I thought to myself, "I can make that move, no sweat."and it did! It swung around four inches at least before it felloff the table. I ran to get my mother, but I have never been ableto do it since. 2.) The very next morning I woke up and one of myGI Joe soldiers was missing. I was very compulsive about thesetoys--each soldier was standing (with the aid of the littleplastic standing base they give you) atop my bookshelf holdinghis weapons and wearing his backpack. The soldiers were in lineby rank, and my Stalker soldier (which was third from left) wasgone, as if someone had picked him up and taken him. I know hewas there before, because I always could just look at the shelfand see all of my soldiers there. Anyway, on to the haunted house:
My girlfriend and I have been going out three years, starting oursenior year in high school. She, or her family, did not sharethis information with me until I witnessed the ghost for myself (morebelow!). Her entire family believes that this ghost is in theirhouse (so do I), and maybe you will too after you read this.Sorry, this is rather long.
My girlfriend (N) has lived in this house for seven years, andher parents bought it new. I know this sounds like a cliche, butit was rumored that the property was on an Indian burial ground. Not a holy ground, like Pet Sematary, but where the bodies ofIndians were buried that had died at the hands of the US Militarylong ago. I don't know if other people in the neighborhood havethe "same problems" nor do I know if the burial groundrumor is true.
My girlfriend first discovered the ghost while in the shower. Shewas getting ready for school when she heard her mother calling toher through the bathroom door. She was finished showering anywayso wrapped the towel around her (heard her mother again) and leftthe bathroom. She walked into the master bedroom where she hadpresumed the beckonings had originated, but no one was home.Later that day, N asked her mom about it, but she said she hadleft right after breakfast, BEFORE N got in the shower. N thoughtshe was hearing things, until her sister told her that she hadsimilar experiences. (The entire family told this to me two weeksago, so things are out of order and sloppy)
N's parents were throwing a party several years ago when theycouldn't find a particular bowl. They showed it to me--it wasvery large and heavy. They knew it was in the hutch, so N's dademptied the entire hutch, looking for this giant bowl. Of course,it wasn't there. They searched the entire house--nowhere. A weeklater, N's Mom opened the cabinet to get something, and there wasthe bowl as if it had never been gone.
N's little sister had this little troll doll that, when youdepressed the button on his stomach, talked. In the house, theyhave one room that is a study/playroom where N's little sisterkeeps her toys in a large, open chest. N's dad was painting thedoor frame one day when the doll spoke to him. The doll said (I'veheard it say this--they love to show it) "You're my friend.Ha-Ha-Ha-Ha." Now, N's dad is not easily spooked, but herewas this little troll doll with flourescent orange hair standingon top of all the toys in the toy box talking to him. He calledto his wife (she was upstairs cleaning) and she came down, but itwouldn't speak again.
My girlfriend and her sister actually saw the ghost one eveningduring dinner. When you enter the front door of their house thereis a room to your immediate right (a sitting room) and one toyour immediate left (formal dining room), steps to the bedroomsupstairs, and a hallway leading to the kitchen. From one side ofthe kitchen table, you can see the front door, and N and hersister were sitting on this side of the table. (N's dad told methis part of the story) The family was having dinner (mom, dad, 2daughters), discussing something unimportant, when the girls eyessuddenly got as big as saucers. Apparently, they both saw theghost run from the sitting room to the formal dining room. Theyboth sat there, asking each other, "Did you see it?"They told their dad, and he went in to the dining room, but hecouldn't find anything. They said he was tall (about 6'6 feet),wearing yellow (like a robe), and had long black hair (or whatthey thought was hair). N's dad said, if you had seen theirreaction, you know it couldn't have been rehearsed.
N's dad is a creature of habit. Everyday after work, he comes infrom the garage, walks upstairs, puts his keys and wallet in alittle box on the dresser, and changes clothes. One day, N's momwas alone in the house, and just had finished taking a shower. She heard the security system panel beep and the garage door open. They have a security pad in their room, and when either thegarage door, the front door, or the back door opens, it beeps. She heard the garage door close and the panel beeped again. Sheheard footsteps come up the stairs. She called to what sheassumed was her husband that she'd be out in a second, and heardthe little box open, keys drop into it, and heard it shut again. She opened the door, but nobody was there. The girls weren't homefrom school, there was nothing in the little box, and she calledher husband at work and he answered the phone.
There are other little things that happen all the time, they say:doors opening and closing, things disappearing and returning--allthe basic mischievous ghost stuff. However, I wasn't likely tobelieve any of this until I witnessed it myself. My girlfriendand I had been going out for about two months, and I was at herhouse late Saturday night. It was after midnight because we werewatching American Gladiators. This was only my second time in herhouse this late, and we were kissing on the couch. The livingroom is connected to the kitchen, and I heard something from thekitchen--some little tapping sound. N heard it, too, and wecouldn't figure out what it was (without going in the kitchen, ofcourse). Suddenly, I realized what it was. The cabinets in N'skitchen are fairly thin, and N's father had put small feltcircles between the door and the cabinet, so that they could notslam together loudly. The tapping sound was the cabinet doorsopening no more than a quarter of an inch and closing--werecreated this sound after this episode. My girlfriend then toldme that she had a ghost in her house and that he must be upsetthat I was kissing her on the couch. I wasn't scared of any ghostso we kept kissing on the couch. Suddenly, there was a loud crashin the kitchen--it was unmistakeable--the ghost had slammed aglass down heavy on the countertop. I jumped up, startled ashell, and stared into the dark kitchen. I saw my glass on thecounter, where I had gotten up to get something to drink butforgot about it. Suddenly, I had the shivers REAL bad. I startedbabbling to the ghost, apologizing for letting it think that Iwas hurting my girlfriend, and I swear, something was in thekitchen glaring at me. My girlfriend stood up and said, "It'sok, he's with me" and kissed me on the cheek and this neverhappened again.
I know this a lot to believe, but I can attest to the last tidbitfirst hand. That was probably the most I've ever been scared. Mygirlfriend and I sat on the couch (not kissing, of course) andwatched the rest of the show. Then she said to me, "He waspissed." And I asked her if she felt that it had been madand she said yes, that she'd felt like an icicle had slid downher spine.
Like I said before, I don't know if the burial ground story istrue, but several of the lawns in the neighborhood are beginningto sink in. But they are just sinking in in certain spots aboutsix feet long and three feet wide. One lawn had a very noticeablespot--it had sunk about a foot and a half. They filled it withsand but it is very apparent. All I know is that I'm not buying ahouse in that neighborhood.
Hope you enjoyed this, and I apologize for the length.
