Hotel Spirit

Sent in by Sonja

I hardly know whereto start. It happened almost 4 years ago today. My husband and Iwere visiting our daughter in Phoenix, before her wedding, whichtook place in Las Vegas on March 28th, 1992. We are from a smalltown in central Wisconsin, not quite like the home of picketfences, but similar. While in Phoenix we decided to take a littleside trip to Nogales Mexico, via Tucson. We spent a lovely day inTucson, sight seeing, and we even took a nice drive up Lemonmountain. We decided to stay the night in Tucson and go on toMexico the next morning. Anyway we took a room at The ComfortInn, off Hwy I-10.

We had had a busy day, so we took a quick swim (it seemed prettywarm compared to Wisconsin) and happily crawled into bed.Sometime during the night I woke up and saw a lady dressed in afitted traveling costume with her hair all done up on top of herhead, with one of those little hats perched on top with anostrich feather on it. She looked like she could have just gottenoff, or was preparing to board a stage coach, it was that era ofdress. She was leaning over my husband's side of the bed, and shewas just looking at him. Well I started to jab him with my elbow,in an effort to wake him up, while trying not to take my eyes offof her. Finally when he wouldn't wake up I looked over at him andshook him. As he was waking up I looked back up to where the ladyhad been standing, and she was disappearing into a little wisp ofcloud, and finally within a few seconds, she was completely gone.My husband was groggy, and was wondering why I was jabbing himwith my elbow. He saw nothing at all by the time he woke up, andI am still sure that he thinks that I was dreaming. Sometimes nowI wonder if that's a possibility too. We did both go back tosleep, without too much trouble, so I guess I didn't feel at allthreatened by the experience. I can honestly say, that ghostswere the furthest thing from my mind when I went to sleep, and inmy whole life I had never seen anything even remotely resemblinganything I would have called a ghost up until that time. I wishnow that I had asked at the desk before leaving the hotel ifanyone else had ever reported a similar experience, but at thetime I just chalked it up to an overactive imagination and was alittle embarrassed to even mention it. And what was a ghost doingin that hotel anyway? If it was an old mansion type hotel I guessI could understand it, but there she was, and that is all thereis to it. Well at least now I feel better that I have toldsomeone else this story. It really isn't a scary ghost story, butI find that I have thought about that night often in the lastfour years, and I am probably as puzzled about this sighting asyou are.

If any of you stayed at that hotel, and experienced a similarincident I would really like to hear about it. Thank you forlistening to my story. I am looking forward to reading many moreof yours.
